Bulldogs fall in Class 3A Sectional Semifinal

Savannah Orgeron scored 20 points and Durbin Thomas added 16 points on Tuesday (Feb. 21), but the Mahomet-Seymour girls’ basketball team dropped a 54-45 decision to Rochester in a Class 3A sectional semifinal game at Rochester.
Scoring four points apiece were Abby Bunting and Chloe Pruitt.
Thomas pulled down a team-high six rebounds. Orgeron and Bunting each cleared five rebounds.
M-S led, 12-9, after one quarter and 26-21 at halftime. Rochester had garnered a 39-33 lead after three quarters.
The Bulldogs end the season with a 24-10 overall record. The M-S junior varsity team compiled a 22-4 final record.
Orgeron led – or shared – the team in scoring in 31 games. Leading in one game apiece were Alayna DeWitt, Pruitt, Thomas and Kylie Waldinger.
Orgeron scored 591 points for the season (17.4 per-game average) and ended with 1,316 career total points. She also led the team in three-pointers (70) and free throw accuracy (79.3 percent on 107 of 135 accuracy).
Orgeron ended with 12 games of 20, or more, points. Her high game was 25 points.
Thomas was second on the team in scoring (7.1 per-game average). Thomas’ high game was 22 points.
Bunting was the Bulldogs’ top rebounder (4.4 per-game average). Orgeron (3.9 per-game average) was the team’s No. 2 rebounder.
Other top marksmen from the free throw line (minimum of 10 attempts) were Grace Binkley (75 percent), Ellie Dallas (71.4 percent), Reese Gallier (also 71.4 percent) and Pruitt (69 percent).
Other team leaders in three-point conversions were Thomas (38), Kylie Waldinger (20) and DeWitt (18).
