Bulldogs end regular season with loss to Lincoln
By Fred Kroner
Blake Wolters’ fourth double-double of the season couldn’t prevent the Mahomet-Seymour boys’ basketball team from dropping a 42-39 decision in its regular-season finale at Lincoln on Friday (Feb. 18).
The Bulldogs finish Apollo Conference play with a 6-6 record.
Wolters totaled 11 points and 11 rebounds to go with five assists.
Wyatt Bohm hit double figures with 10 points. Luke Koller notched eight points, six rebounds and three assists.
M-S led, 12-9, after one quarter, but fell behind, 24-21, at halftime.
The Bulldogs had two three-point attempts in the waning seconds to create a tie and force overtime, but they were off the mark. M-S was scoreless from the field during the final 2 ½ minutes.
M-S (15-14) will host a Class 3A regional and will face Danville on Wednesday (Feb. 23) in the semifinals. The winner will likely get top-seeded Lincoln in the championship game on Friday (Feb. 25).
