By Fred Kroner
Mahomet-Seymour needed overtime on Friday (Feb. 3) but was able to avenge a loss at Taylorville by virtue of a 42-34 Apollo Conference decision.
The teams were tied, 33-33, after regulation. When the schools played in Mahomet in December, Taylorville won by two points.
Savannah Orgeron logged a double-double in the rematch with game-high totals of 23 points and 10 rebounds.
She scored six of her points in OT, when she connected on 4-of-4 free throws.
Durbin Thomas scored nine points and Reese Gallier added six points. For the third consecutive game, Gallier posted a new season high for rebounds. She cleared seven rebounds.
Gallier (two points) and Thomas (one point) were the other Bulldogs to score in overtime.
Abby Bunting captured nine rebounds. Both Orgeron and Thomas blocked three shots. Thomas hauled down four rebounds.
The Bulldogs led, 12-4, after one quarter and 21-16 at halftime.
M-S (21-8) returns to action on Monday (Feb. 6) at Danville.
