Nolan Wheeler notched four goals and Isaac Warren added four assists on Tuesday (Sept. 13) as the Mahomet-Seymour boys’ soccer team earned a 8-1 victory at home over Mattoon.
The Bulldogs led, 4-0, at intermission.
Carson Reed, Travis Hoffman, Kai Jones and Eli Stelle also scored for M-S. Jones, Wheeler, Reed and Nick Tjahjadi also contributed assists.
“One of the cleaner games the Bulldogs played,” M-S coach Jeremy Davis said. “They dominated possession and were able to control the game against the Green Wave.
“Nolan Wheeler and Isaac Warren had a great night combining in the final third. Aaron Smith had his best performance of the year attacking from the fullback position, creating overloads in the outside zone most of the night for the Bulldogs.”
M-S (7-2-1) is 3-0 in Apollo Conference matches entering a Saturday (Sept. 17) showdown at Lincoln for first place in the league.
The unbeaten Bulldog junior varsity team shutout Mattoon, 1-0.
