Bulldogs continue to win, defeat Urbana, Central and Pontiac

Mahomet-Seymour’s wrestling team extended its winning streak to 17 consecutive duals on Thursday (Jan. 20), dominating Urbana (84-0), Central (75-6) and Pontiac (78-6) in Champaign.
For the night, the Bulldogs won 18 matches by pin, but also received 21 forfeit wins for the evening. Against the three opponents, M-S lost just two matches.
Winning three times by pin were Colton Crowley (220 pounds) and Camden Harms (285 pounds). Posting two pins apiece were Logan Petro (145 pounds), Jacob Dobbins (160 pounds), Brennan Houser (170 pounds), Stevie Pogue (182 pounds) and Mateo Casillas (195 pounds).
Caden Hatton (113 pounds) and Gage Decker (132 pounds) contributed one pin apiece. M-S’ other non-forfeited win was an 11-5 decision by Lukas Alstetter (106 pounds).
On Saturday (Jan. 22), the M-S junior varsity team took top honors in the 23-school Stanford Olympia JV Invitational.
M-S amassed 219 points. Runner-up Gibson City-Melvin-Sibley had 192 ½ points.
The Bulldogs took 23 entries to Olympia and 20 posted at least one pin for the day.
M-S champions were Reese Wilson (126 pounds), Deandre Hughey (145 pounds), Cale Hillard (160 pounds) and Ethan Grindley (170 pounds).
Grindley and Hughey each registered three pins. Hillard and Wilson had two pins apiece.
The lone Bulldog runner-up was Theo Ratliff (145 pounds).
Third-place finishers for M-S were Lukas Alstetter (106 pounds), Camden Heinold (120 pounds), Kaleb Roberts (130 pounds) and Hayden Hart (170 pounds). Roberts had a team-high four pins. Hart collected three pins.
Four Bulldogs placed fourth: Jonathon Hanley (113 pounds), Caleb Bundren (132 pounds), Braedon Williams (152 pounds) and Adain Crull (170 pounds).
Winding up in sixth place for M-S were Isabelle Leyhe (120 pounds), Cayden Grove (126 pounds) and Blayne Maya (182 pounds).
M-S (23-3) returns to action on Tuesday (Jan. 25) at Mount Zion.
