Katherine Severns pitched a complete game on Monday (May 15) and picked up the win as Mahomet-Seymour’s softball team closed out the regular season with a 6-5 victory at Danville.
Severns allowed one earned run and walked one batter.
Madeleine Cortez pounded three hits for the Bulldogs, a single, a double and a home run. Kayla McKinney produced a two-hit game.
The Bulldogs’ other hit was a triple by Rio Casillas.
Cortez scored three of the M-S runs. Teammates who crossed home plate were Kenadi Granadino, Ava Henderson and Sydney Ward. Cortez, Madelyn Logsdon and McKinney each contributed one RBI.
M-S (11-18) returns to action on Wednesday (May 24) in a Class 3A regional that the Bulldogs are hosting.
Third-seeded M-S will open up with sixth-seeded Danville at 5 p.m.
