The Bulldogs celebrated Senior Night in boys’ soccer on Wednesday (March 24) by posting their fourth shutout and by scoring a season-high 11 goals.
All seven Mahomet-Seymour seniors were key contributors, accounting for eight goals, three assists and two saves in an 11-0 triumph over Taylorville.
“Like they were something deciduous, most showed signs of blossoming for the biggest crowd of the season,” M-S coach Jeremy Davis said. “Almost all were able to finish the night on the score sheet one way or another.”
The goalkeeping duties were shared by seniors Clayton Kessler and Logan Woodward. They each finished with one save.
Seniors who reached the scoring column were Eli Warren (three goals), Nate Lundstrom (two goals), Tucker Antonacci (one goal), Aidan Hegarty (one goal) and Daniel Renshaw (one goal).
For Hegarty and Renshaw, the goals were the first of their careers.
“One of the more memorable highlights of the night was in senior Daniel Renshaw assisting his fellow defensemen Aidan Hegarty,” Davis said.
Lundstrom, Renshaw and Warren each collected one assist.
Also scoring goals for M-S were Logan Alt, Clayton Gibson and Anthony Ramirez.
Nick Tjahjadi and Titus Payne each wound up with one assist.
M-S is 3-0-2 and has outscored its first five opponents, 29-2.
Warren (eight goals) and Lundstrom (six goals) are the team’s scoring leaders. Lundstrom has a team-high six assists. Warren is next with four assists.
The Bulldogs return to action on Thursday (March 25) at Mount Zion.
