Bulldog wrestling wins two dual meets

The unbeaten Bulldogs won two dual meets on each of three consecutive days to finish the week.
Four Bulldogs ran the table and won each match they had between Thursday (May 20) and Saturday (May 22).
Lukas Alstetter was 5-0 at 106 pounds, Caden Hatton was 6-0 at 113 pounds, Mateo Casillas was 4-0 at 195 pounds and Daniel Renshaw was 6-0 at 220 pounds.
On Thursday at Mount Zion, M-S decisioned the host Braves 58-20 as well as Mattoon 66-18.
On Friday (May 21) at Tolono, the Bulldogs topped the host Rockets 43-24 along with Vandalia 40-31.
To complete the week – which featured eight dual meets in a five-day span – the Bulldogs returned home and swept past Springfield (48-24) and Centennial (48-15).
In the three-day span to end the week, Bulldog grapplers had a cumulative record of 56-27, winning 26 matches by pin.
Renshaw registered five falls, Colton Crowley (285 pounds) had four pins, Hatton totaled three pins and Logan Hillard (138 pounds) also collected three pins.
Six M-S athletes secured pins in less than a minute, with the quickest coming from 195-pound Stevie Pogue (195 pounds) in seven seconds.
Other fast falls were by Renshaw (14 seconds, 29 seconds and 57 seconds), Hatton (23 seconds), Logan Petro (145 pounds, 39 seconds), Crowley (43 seconds) and Hillard (52 seconds).
Overall, 14 Bulldogs posted wins during the week’s last three days and 13 had at least one pin.
Squad members who lost just once during the six duals were Hillard (5-1 record), Gage Granadino (5-1 at 170 pounds) and Crowley (5-1).
M-S (15-0) returns to action on Tuesday at home against Danville, Shelbyville and Warrensburg-Latham.
