Bulldog volleyball breaks season-record for wins, advances in Regional play

Mahomet-Seymour captured its school record for volleyball wins in a season by handing Rantoul a 25-9, 25-12 setback on Tuesday (Oct. 25) in an IHSA Class 3A regional semifinal match on the Eagles’ court.

The Bulldogs sport a 32-3 season record and return to Rantoul on Thursday (Oct. 27) to take on top-seeded Normal University High in the regional championship match.

Libby Bodine recorded 10 digs and two service aces against the Eagles. Bulldog Maddie Gaede contributed seven assists and four aces. Grace Rodebaugh totaled four kills.

The previous school record for volleyball wins in a season was set by the 31-6 Bulldog squad in 2021.

M-S is seeking its first regional crown in volleyball since 2019.

When the Bulldogs and U-High played in the regular season, U-High registered a 25-12, 22-25, 25-16 victory on Sept. 15.
