Bulldog swimmers register season best times

Mahomet-Seymour swimmers logged 11 season-best times on Saturday (Oct. 22) and placed third in the eight-school Urbana Uni High Invitational.

Talynn O’Donnell and Eden Oelze each won two individual events and helped one relay to a first-place finish.

O’Donnell re-broke her school record in the 200-yard freestyle, winning the event with a time of 2 minutes, 2.2 seconds.

She also was victorious in the 500-yard freestyle (5:32.79).

Oelze posted season-bests in both of the events she won: 100-yard butterfly (1:04.56) and the 200-yard individual medley (2:27.94).

The foursome on the winning 400-yard freestyle relay was O’Donnell, Maddie Logsdon, Lainey Howard and Oelze. Their combined time was 4:01.32.

Shelby Raver recorded two season-bests: 50-yard freestyle and 100-yard freestyle. Raver secured a fourth-place finish in the 50 free (29.00).

Howard also collected two top-four finishes. She finished third in the 100-yard breaststroke (1:19.83) and fourth in the 200-yard freestyle (2:12.01).

Two other Bulldog relays also fared well.

The 200-yard freestyle unit of Oelze, Howard, Logsdon and O’Donnell ended in second place (1:50.01).

The 200-yard medley foursome of Reese Harrell, Trinity Allen, Kayleigh Holt and Raver placed fourth (2:20.49).

Other M-S athletes who achieved personal-bests were Allen (100-yard breaststroke), Harrell (100-yard freestyle and 100-yard backstroke), Holt (100-yard butterfly), Melody Hobbs (50-yard freestyle) and Diya Patel (50-yard freestyle).

M-S returns to action on Saturday (Oct. 29) at Charleston.

“The team is in a great position to do well at the upcoming sectional meet in two weeks (on Saturday, Nov. 5),” M-S coach Erich O’Donnell said.
