Bulldog softball picks up two wins over St. Matthew and GCMS

The Bulldogs achieved a season-high for runs scored in a game on Wednesday (Sept. 1) by virtue of a 21-11 triumph at home over Champaign St. Matthew.
Ava Yeakel was 4-for-5 in the game for M-S. Teammate Kalista Granadino stole eight bases. Granadino, Adrian Rhodes and Brooklyn Tuttle all had at least two hits in the win.
Addy Reigart pitched three innings and recorded six strikeouts.
On Tuesday (Aug. 24), the Bulldogs earned a 3-2 win at home over Gibson City-Melvin-Sibley.
Addison Schulze pitched seven innings and fanned seven batters. Presley Cox was 2-for-3.
The Bulldogs snapped a 2-2 deadlock in the bottom of the sixth on an RBI by Kate Severns.
On Wednesday (Aug. 25), M-S was on the short end of a 4-2 score at Clinton.
Bulldogs with hits were Cox, Granadino, Brooklyn Dyer and Olivia Minor.
Severns pitched three innings and had three strikeouts.
Third-seeded M-S (4-5) enters Class 3A IESA regional play on Wednesday (Sept. 8) at home against sixth-seeded Champaign Franklin in a quarterfinal contest.
The winner will travel to Danville North Ridge for a Saturday (Sept. 11) semifinal game against either second-seeded Urbana or seventh-seeded Champaign Jefferson.
