Bulldog Softball picks up three wins

Abigail Akers and Aubrie Shore each finished with three hits and Karley Yergler clubbed two home runs on Thursday (April 29) as the Mahomet-Seymour softball team upended visiting St. Joseph Ogden 13-3 in a five-inning game.
Yergler drove in four runs. She also earned the pitching win, striking out 11 batters and walking one in five innings. Yergler permitted four hits.
Ashley Cambell and Yergler each ended with two hits. Teammate Sydney McKinney drilled a grand slam home run and knocked in four runs. Akers also had four RBI.
Shore and Yergler each crossed home plate three times. Maddie Cortez scored two runs.
The Bulldogs took control with a six-run first inning.
The Bulldogs swept a doubleheader at Taylorville on Saturday (May 1), following up on a 17-0 win in the first game with a 20-4 conquest in the nightcap.
Shore, Yergler and Campbell all went 3-for-4 at the plate in the opener. Shore and Campbell hit doubles and Yergler socked a triple and a home run. Campbell had four RBI. Yergler scored four runs.
Abigail Akers also recorded a 3-for-4 batting performance, with a triple.
Yergler pitched her third shutout of the season in Game 1. She allowed a single, walked no one and struck out eight.
In the second game, Yergler pounded four more hits, including a home run for the fifth game in a row. She also hit two doubles.
Five teammates ended with two hits apiece: Akers, Campbell, Emma Clements, Shore and Sydney Ward. Akers and Shore each contributed two doubles.
Shore and Akers shared the pitching load, each working three innings. Shore fanned five batters and Akers struck out four.
