Bulldog Softball on five-game win streak

Abigail Akers and Kenadi Granadino each crashed three hits on Monday (May 3) as the Bulldogs pounded Centennial 12-1 in a softball game in Champaign.

Granadino and Ashley Campbell each drove in three runs.

Campbell collected two hits.

M-S stole seven bases, including two apiece by Jadyn Hannah and Kayla McKinney.

Junior Karley Yergler clubbed an extra-base hit for the 10th consecutive game. She also picked up the pitching win, firing four innings of one-hit, scoreless ball. She struck out eight. Akers worked the final inning and recorded two of her three outs via strikeouts.

On Wednesday (May 5), Yergler was 4-for-4 at the plate and pitched a no-hitter, striking out 16 and walking no one in a 16-0 win against Salt Fork in Catlin. One Salt Fork player reached base on a Bulldog error.

Yergler’s shutout was her fourth of the season.

Shore pounded a home run and a double for the Bulldogs. Shore drove in three runs. Campbell had two hits and two RBI. Yergler knocked in one run and also stole two bases.

M-S (8-3) has won five games in a row and will return to action on Thursday (May 6) at Arthur-Lovington/Atwood-Hammond.
