Bulldog softball enters Regional play on two-game win streak

Addison Schulze fired her fifth shutout of the season on Wednesday (Aug. 31) as the Mahomet-Seymour Junior High softball team blanked St. Matthew, 11-0, in Champaign.
She permitted one hit and one walk and struck out 10.
Lilly Jones had three RBI and Schulze and Cora Ummel both knocked in two runs.
Scoring two runs apiece were Grace Shotkoski and Madisyn Morgan.
On Thursday (Sept. 1), the Bulldogs won a high-scoring contest at home over Urbana, 16-10.
Peyton Shelmadine tallied four runs. Jones and Schulze each scored twice.
Schulze was 3-for-3 at the plate. Shotkoski also had a three-hit game and delivered three RBI. Shelmadine and Margaret O’Donnell each socked two hits.
Presley Cox slugged a home run and drove in two runs.
Jones also finished with two RBI.
Schulze pitched a complete game, walking one and striking out 12.
M-S (9-6) returns to action on Thursday (Sept. 8) with a regional quarterfinal game at home against seventh-seeded Champaign Jefferson. The Bulldogs are the No. 2 seed and enter postseason play on a two-game winning streak.
