By Fred Kroner
Madeleine Cortez finished the week with a flourish, belting extra-base hits in three consecutive games and going 5-for-9 in that span.
However, the Mahomet-Seymour softball team dropped all three games, including an Apollo Conference doubleheader loss at home on Friday (April 14) to Charleston. The Trojans pulled off wins of 16-3 and 16-5.
The Bulldogs were also beaten on Thursday (April 13) at Normal University High, 14-4.
Cortez was 3-for-3 at U-High with a double and a solo home run. She hit doubles in both games against Charleston.
Madelyn Logsdon had a hit and an RBI against both U-High and Charleston.
Ava Henderson also contributed hits on both days. Madisyn White was 2-for-2 in the opener against the Trojans and knocked in runs on both days.
Kenadi Granadino scored runs in each of the three games.
Rio Casillas, Jenna Wade and Sydney Ward also connected for hits against Charleston.
M-S (3-9) returns to action on Monday (April 17) at home against Champaign Central.
