Bulldog Soccer shuts out Mount Zion
By Fred Kroner
The Bulldogs not only shut out visiting Mount Zion on the scoreboard on Thursday (April 29), but also on the field.
Mahomet-Seymour’s 5-0 victory over its Apollo Conference rivals came in a match the team didn’t allow the Braves any shots on goal.
M-S put up 34 shots overall.
Kayla Koerner scored two goals. Collecting one goal apiece were Nyah Biegler, Elise Hertling and Grace Lietz.
Brea Benson, Delaney King, Koerner and Lauren Schnepper each had one assist.
M-S led, 4-0, at intermission.
“The Bulldogs improved on Tuesday night’s defensive performance, where they allowed one shot,” M-S coach Jeremy Davis said. “Kallie Stutsman had a great defensive shadow and was able to be in the shooting lane at the right time to block Mount Zion’s best player’s shot.
“The defensive effort kept Mount Zion from getting any shots off on the night.”
M-S is 3-1 overall and 2-0 in Apollo Conference action. The Bulldogs return to action on Tuesday (May 4) at Charleston.
