Bulldog kick-off 2022 with win over Bloomington

Mahomet-Seymour’s eighth-grade boys’ basketball team started the 2022 portion of its schedule on Tuesday (Jan. 4) with a 35-27 win at Bloomington.
Landyn Hannah notched a team-high 15 points. He hit eight of his points in the third quarter as the Bulldogs turned a 19-17 halftime deficit into a 29-23 lead entering the final period.
M-S allowed Bloomington just two second-half field goals.
Jackson Bohm scored nine points and Nolan Franz added six points for the Bulldogs.
The M-S eighth-graders (12-5) return to action on Thursday (Jan. 13) at home against Champaign Jefferson.
The Bulldog seventh-graders split their first two games of the New Year, losing at Bloomington, 42-31, on Tuesday (Jan. 4) before rebounding at Gibson City-Melvin-Sibley for a 43-28 victory on Monday (Jan. 10).
Against Bloomington, Bryson Tiefenthaler made a team-high nine points. Paxson O’Malley added eight points and Coy Benway ended with four.
Against GCMS, O’Malley erupted for a season-high 25 points. Eli Dyer contributed five points and Tiefenthaler chipped in with four points.
The M-S seventh-graders are 11-7 entering a Thursday (Jan. 13) home game against Champaign Jefferson.
