Bulldog finish 11th at Pontiac Girls’ Tournament

Mahomet-Seymour had two third-place finishers and one sixth-place finisher on Friday (Dec. 8) at the Pontiac Girls’ Tournament.
M-S finished 11th in the 32-school event with 61 points.
Winning three of their four matches and capturing third were Kalista Granadino (115 pounds) and Isabelle Leyhe (120 pounds).
Both girls recorded pins for all three of their wins. Granadino’s quickest fall was in 55 seconds. Leyhe had a pin in 27 seconds.
Leyhe has a 7-1 season record and Granadino is 7-2 to date.
Taking sixth for the Bulldogs was Jaycee Fancher (125 pounds). She had a 3-2 record at Pontiac with two pins, including one in 58 seconds.
The fourth M-S competitor at the tournament was Gabriela Dawson. She was 2-2 at 140 pounds, but did not place. Her one pin came in 2:24.
Edwardsville was the team champion at Pontiac with 207 ½ points. Runner-up Batavia had 166 points.
The M-S girls will return to action on Saturday (Dec. 16) at the Springfield Invitational.
