Bulldog baseball picks up two wins in last three games

Blake Wolters – who drove in five runs in his previous game – knocked in six runs on Thursday (April 14) in a 17-7 Mahomet-Seymour baseball win at Gibson City-Melvin-Sibley.
Wolters hit for the cycle and was one of two Bulldogs to cross home plate four times. Alex McHale also scored four runs.
Collecting two hits apiece were Braden Houchin, Carter Johnson, McHale, Carter Selk and Chase Wagers.
Selk swatted a double and a triple and drove in two runs. McHale also had two RBI.
Mateo Casillas and Jaedon Lager both scored twice.
Wagers, who struck out four batters in two innings, picked up the pitching win.
On Saturday (April 16), M-S split a twin bill with Charleston, capturing the first game,11-1, before falling, 16-15, in a second game it trailed 9-0 after three innings.
Wolters clubbed a double and a home run, driving in four first-game runs. He also pitched a five-inning complete game, permitting two hits and two walks while striking out eight in earning his fourth win without a loss.
Brayden Smith and Wagers also collected two hits. Smith contributed three RBI. Houchin, Johnson, Selk and Wolters all scored two runs.
In the second game, Casillas slammed a home run and scored three runs. Johnson had two hits and four RBI.
Selk went 4-for-4. Wolters had three hits. Finishing with two hits besides Johnson were McHale and Wagers. Smith knocked in two runs.
Wolters has produced six consecutive muti-hit games, going 18-for-25 in that span and driving in 21 runs. Twelve of those hits were for extra bases.
M-S (10-3) returns to action on Tuesday (April 19) at Pontiac.
