Bulldog Baseball picks up Apollo Conference win

Chase Wagers belted a single, double and triple on Saturday at Mount Zion to help Mahomet-Seymour to a 10-2 Apollo Conference baseball victory. Wagers knocked in three of the M-S runs.

Carter Johnson, Nate McFall and Andrew Norman each contributed two hits. Johnson delivered two RBI. McFall and Norman each scored two runs. Norman swiped two bases.

McFall hit two doubles. Johnson doubled once.

Blake Wolters pitched 6 1/3 innings and earned the win. He walked one and struck out eight. Zach Courson closed out the game by recording two strikeouts for the last two outs.

Wolters is 4-2.

Mount Zion started the weekend tied for first (with Mattoon) in the Apollo Conference standings. The Braves are 5-2 in league play. M-S is 3-4.

M-S (12-10 overall) returns to action on Friday (June 4) at home in a Class 3A regional game against seventh-seeded Decatur Eisenhower. M-S is the No. 2 seed.
