Bulldog Baseball on 9-game win streak

Mahomet-Seymour extended its baseball winning streak to nine games on Monday (May 9) with a 12-2 conquest at Prairie Central.
Chase Wagers (3-0) pitched a five-inning complete game without allowing an earned run or a walk. He fanned six batters.
Blake Wolters, Alex McHale and Jaedon Lager all stroked two hits. Lager and Brayden Smith – who reached base three times on walks – each collected two RBI.
McHale tallied three runs. Braden Houchin and Zach Courson scored twice apiece.
On Tuesday (May 10), Champaign Central walked off with a 7-6 win after notching two runs in the bottom of the seventh inning to snap M-S’ winning streak.
The Maroons scored five first-inning runs and were scoreless until one out in the seventh.
Bulldog reliever Evan Ruzich worked 6 1/3 innings and allowed three hits. He walked one and fanned three, but took the loss.
Five of M-S’ nine hits were doubles, including two by Houchin, who knocked in two runs.
Smith led the way with three hits. Houchin and Carter Selk each contributed two hits. Selk, Smith and Lager had doubles.
Selk and Jacob Waldinger crossed home plate twice each.
M-S (19-4) returns to action on Thursday (May 12) at Downs Tri-Valley.
