Bulldog 3,200 wins Urbana Invitational

Mahomet-Seymour fielded the winning 3,200-meter relay in the Friday (April 29) Urbana girls’ track and field invitational.
Bulldogs Ava Boyd, Chloe Bundren, Elizabeth Sims and Chloe Allen finished in a time of 10 minutes, 20.10 seconds.
Boyd and Bundren were each the runner-up in one individual event.
Boyd took second in the 1,600 meters (5:36.83) and Bundren placed second in the 800 meters (2:34.48).
Sims finished fourth in the 1,600 meters (5:47.10) and Allen posted a ninth-place finish in the 400 meters (1:06.75).
Another M-S second-place finisher was high jumper Grace Rodebaugh, who cleared 4 feet, 10 inches. Rodebaugh was also 10th in the shot put (30 feet, 8 inches).
Other Bulldogs with top-10 performances individually were: Kelsie Fuoss (fifth in the pole vault at 9 feet, 4 inches), Emily Bednar (fifth in the 800 meters in 2:41.68), Kendyl Petro (sixth in the discus at 88 feet), Ariana Lingard (sixth in the 100 meters in 13.25 seconds) and Cece Abramson (seventh in the pole vault at 8 feet, 10 inches).
Two other M-S relays fared well.
The 1,600-meter foursome of Allen, Boyd, Lingard and Lauren Burr ended fifth in 4:32.97.
The 400-meter unit of Lingard, Fuoss, Burr and Amaya Francom ended in eighth place, 52.27 seconds.
In the team competition, Kankakee won the 44th-annual title with 130 points. Normal University High (113 points) was second. M-S was fourth with 60 points.
The Bulldogs return to action on Thursday (May 5) in the Apollo Conference meet, which M-S will host at Moose Handlin Track, starting at 3 p.m.
