Buchanan ranked by IWCOA.net heading into IHSA State Competition

M-S senior Seth Buchanan was ranked third in the Class 2A 285-pound weight class for the IHSA state tournament, which starts on Thursday at the UI State Farm Center.
The state rankings were compiled by Rob Sherrill for IWCOA.net.
Buchanan (38-5), who is closing in on 40 wins for the season, opens with Freeport’s Isaiah Batteast in the opening round.
At 220 pounds, unranked Bulldog Daniel Renshaw starts with Brock Neill, from LaSalle-Peru. The winner will likely draw unbeaten and top-rated Apollo Gothard, from Lemont, in the second round.
The third M-S individual state-qualifier is 152-pound Gage Granadino. He is in a loaded bracket and will meet fourth-ranked Rocco Palumbo, from Richards, in his first bout. That winner will likely be paired with sixth-ranked Shane Morton, from Crystal Lake South, in the second round.
The three-day tournament concludes on Saturday.
