Brunner and Jones named to All-Tournament team at Urbana Invitational

All-tournament selections Colten Brunner and Kadyn Jones led the Bulldogs to wins in two of three matches in the Urbana Tiger Invitational and a third-place finish in the eight-team event.

M-S (4-2-1) opened with a 5-2 triumph over the Urbana junior varsity, a replacement for St. Thomas, which withdrew.

Brunner posted his first varsity hat trick. Eli Warren added two goals and one assist.

In the semifinals against Champaign Central, the Maroons broke a scoreless tie in the final 20 minutes en route to a 2-0 victory.

M-S bounced back to shutout Danville 7-0 in the third-place match.

Tournament leaders were Brunner and Jones each with three goals, Warren with two goals and Clayton Gibson with one goal.

Jones amassed five assists, Warren had three assists and Evan Coleman had two assists.

Contributing one assist apiece were Tucker Antonacci and Sam Henrichs.

M-S returns to action on Thursday at home against Apollo Conference foe Charleston.
