After losses in seven of its last eight games, Mahomet-Seymour’s boys’ basketball team returned to its winning way on Tuesday with a non-conference victory at home against Washington.
The Bulldogs (7-10) prevailed, 59-54, in a game they led, 20-9, after one quarter.
Grant Coleman scored 22 points to lead M-S. Braden Finch hit a season-high 10 points.
Finch is the sixth different squad member to score in double figures this season.
Cole Lener grabbed six rebounds, Connor Kamphaus had five steals and Jordan Veldman had four assists to lead M-S in those categories.
M-S returns to action in a Coaches vs. Cancer home game on Saturday afternoon, against Morton. The junior varsity game is scheduled to start at 1 p.m., with the varsity to follow at about 2:30 p.m.

Five M-S athletes won both matches on Tuesday as the Bulldogs continued their series of dual meets against Apollo Conference schools.
M-S (12-5) defeated Effingham 59-21, but lost to Mattoon 42-33.
Finishing the night 2-0 for Mahomet-Seymour were Noah Schnepper (120 pounds), Wyatt Heimann (170 pounds), Daunte Roberts (182 pounds), Daniel Renshaw (195 pounds) and Seth Buchanan (285 pounds).
Heimann was the most dominant Bulldog, winning by pin and a technical fall.

M-S has won three of its four league duals and has two more remaining, against Mount Zion and Taylorville on Tuesday in Mount Zion.
Bulldogs who finished 1-1 on Tuesday were Payton Ragona (106 pounds), Braeden Heinold (113 pounds), Jacob Schlenker (126 pounds), Logan Petro (132 pounds), Chance Decker (138 pounds) and Gage Granadino (152 pounds).
The Bulldogs return to action tonight with home meets against Pontiac and Prairie Central.
