Boyd wins two races at Champaign Central

Ava Boyd was a double winner on Tuesday (April 25) for the Mahomet-Seymour girls’ track and field team in a six-school meet at Champaign Central.
Boyd copped top honors in the 800 meters (personal-best 2:22.64) and the 1,600 meters (5 minutes, 18.7 seconds).
In both races, teammate Chloe Bundren was third. She was clocked in 2:33.88 in the 800 and 5:58.8 in the 1,600.
Boyd was the lone individual winner for the Bulldogs, who ended third in the team race with 73 points. The host Maroons were first with 104 points.
Three M-S athletes secured second-place finishes.
Madalyn Marx was the runner-up in the 100 meters (13.36 seconds). Grace Rodebaugh took second in the high jump (4 feet, 11 inches) and Meah Beacham was second in the triple jump (32 feet, 3 inches).
Kara Carney and Lauren Burr captured third-place finishes. Carney was among the leaders in the 300-meters hurdles (51.40 seconds) and Burr placed well in the long jump (15 feet, 2 inches).
Kelsie Fuoss nabbed a fourth-place finish in the pole vault (9 feet, 6 inches). Ending in fifth place were Karlie Fuoss (long jump at 14 feet, 4 inches) and Emma Frazier (1,600 meters at a personal-best 6:03.10).
Beacham registered a seventh-place finish in the 200 meters (29.6 seconds) and an eighth-place finish in the 100 meters (14.26 seconds).
Abi Weiss wound up sixth in the triple jump (28 feet, 7 inches) and was eighth in the pole vault (8 feet, 6 inches).
Other individual leaders for the Bulldogs were Jinan Abdo (sixth in the 1,600 meters at a personal-best 6:15.5), Selah Campion (sixth in the discus at 77 feet, 4 inches), Holly Hawes (seventh on the 400 meters at 1:12.35), Grace Ribbe (seventh in the shot put at 27 feet, 1 inch), Carney (tied for seventh in the high jump at 4 feet, 3 inches), Adelyn Boyd (eighth in the 300-meter hurdles in 1:01.2) and Chloe Merkle (eighth in the 400 meters at 1:12.55).
In the relay races, M-S produced two runner-up finishes and two third-place endings.
Placing second were the 400- and 1,600-meter foursomes.
The 400 unit featured Burr, Kelsie Fuoss, Beacham and Marx. They were timed in 51.04 seconds.
Teaming up in the 1,600 relay were Carney, Burr, Kira Smith and Marx. Their cumulative time was 4:26.4.
Both the 800- and 3,200-meter relays placed third.
Sharing the baton in the 800 were Burr, Kelsie Fuoss, Smith and Marx. Their total time was 1:50.03.
The 3,200 relay included Frazier, Morgan Waisath, Callie Jansen and Kaile Jeffers. Their time was 11:23.5.
The Bulldogs return to action on Friday (April 28) in the 45th Urbana Invitational.
