Boyd registers career-best at First to Finish Invite

Senior Ava Boyd ran a career-best time for the Mahomet-Seymour girls’ cross-country team on Saturday (Sept. 9) at the Finish to Finish Invitational at Detweiler Park, in Peoria.

Boyd completed the 3-mile course in 18 minutes 2.80 seconds and finished eighth in a race with 477 runners.

M-S placed 15th in the 53-school field.

Meet champion Chatham Glenwood had 117 points. Runner-up Grayslake Central totaled 128 points. M-S had 438 points.

Other Bulldog varsity runners were Taylor Mills (72nd in personal-best 19:35.20), Chloe Bundren (95th in season-best 19:55.20), Jaci Kellenberger (116th in personal-best 20:22.70), Hadley Grotelueschen (182nd in season-best 21:28.80), Emma Frazier (239th in 22:13.40) and Zoey Wallace (259th in 22:26.80).

In the open race, Bulldog Morgan Waisath ended 43rd (season-best 21:05), Emmaline Culp was 98th (personal-best 22:01.30), Ava Jansen was 125th (season-best 22:24.70), Emily Ramirez was 147th (personal-best 22:37.70), Caroline Allen was 178th (23:03.00), Camryn Nelson was 184th (23:10.90), Selma Tilton was 226th (personal-best 23:38.40), Meg Turner was 318th (24:56.30), Blaire Gabel was 320th (personal-best 24:57.60) and Grace Bednar was 385th (25:39.50).

M-S will return to action on Saturday (Sept. 16) at the Richard Spring Invitational, at Detweiller Park, in Peoria.
