Bosworth, Yeakel lead MSJHS in first three games

Ava Yeakel dropped in a game-high 10 points on Thursday (Sept. 16) as the eighth-grade Mahomet-Seymour girls’ basketball team opened its season at home with a 32-1 triumph over Danville North Ridge.
Erin Dallas chipped in with six points and five steals.
On Monday (Sept. 20), M-S traveled to George Evans, in Bloomington, and escaped with a 36-31 victory in a game where it never trailed.
Lily Bosworth scored a team-high 12 points. Yeakel contributed 10 points. Dallas and Hannah Creel each scored six points.
“Although it didn’t show up in the scorebook, Alivia Lewis was the player of the game with her tough defense, ball control, and energy,” M-S coach Jimmy Lanphear said.
On Tuesday (Sept. 21), the Bulldogs produced their top-scoring game of the season, rolling past Champaign Jefferson at home, 40-20.
Bosworth hit a season-high 14 points. Creel and Yeakel both tallied eight points against the Jaguars.
M-S (3-0) returns to action on Thursday (Sept. 23) at home against Bloomington.
