Born Learning Trail located at Bridle Leash Park

In one of their various efforts to give back to the community, the Mahomet Rotary Club, led by former president Chad Hoffman, recently came together with the Mahomet Parks and Recreation department to create an interactive learning trail.
The trail, which was designed for preschool age children, can be found on the sidewalks around the Bridle Leash Park play area.
“Movement helps a lot of kids learn,” Hoffman shared, at least that’s the idea for the Born Learning Trails in Champaign County.
“So they are moving while they are leaning things on the trail.”
The trail itself includes 10 activities, all explained with bilingual signs along the path. The activities range anywhere from standing on different shapes to identifying animal footprints painted along the way.
“We had seen this elsewhere in the community and we were just really excited to have one in Mahomet,” Hoffman added.
He went on, “It’s just a good introduction to a variety of skills.”
“Each of the ten activities is kind of a different skill that you can kind of age up or age down spending on the needs of the child.”
For the children, “It’s just an exciting way to have active learning,” Hoffman exclaimed.
And for the Rotary Club, “it’s wonderful for us to have something permanent in the park.”
Hoffman explained, “We always want to give back to the community . . . [and] this traill will become an ongoing service project for us.”
The trail, which officially opened a few weeks ago is now available to the public.
