Big weekend for MSHS Football, Soccer and Volleyball
MSHS Football
The Bulldogs played nose-to-nose with Mascoutah Friday.
The first half ended in a 14-14 tie. Mascoutah pulled ahead 21-14 in the third quarter.
But with less than three minutes left in the fourth quarter, Quarterback Dawson Finch connected on a 19-yard touchdown pass with Jordan Veldman. The Bulldogs then converted a two-point conversion to take the lead 22-21.
MSHS Soccer
Mahomet-Seymour improved to 7-2 and 3-0 in the Apollo conference Saturday with a 4-1 win over Lincoln. The
The Bulldogs started strong with an early goal from Ethan Mansfield. He was assisted by Austin Carr. They controlled the play throughout the game but had struggles getting it into the net. Lincoln found an equalizer in the form of a penalty kick.
At the end of the first half, Callan Whitehouse was able to give the Bulldogs a lead. He was assisted by Ethan Mansfield. The dogs were bolstered by the return of Jacob Peterson. Coming fresh off of taking an ACT, Peterson epitomized the student-athlete role after his arrival midway through the second half. He made an immediate impact on the edges of the field. Jacob was able to consistently beat his man on the edge and create opportunities for his teammates. In Jacob’s limited minutes, he assisted Trevor Burgess and later Ethan Mansfield to cap off the day for the dogs.

MSHS Volleyball
Mahomet-Seymour took second place in the Bulldog Invitational Saturday, losing 23-25, 25-16, 15-8 in the Championship game to Champaign Central.
Before the loss, Mahomet-Seymour went undefeated. The Bulldogs finished pool play 3-0, defeating Oakwood 25-16, 25-13, Peotone 25-17, 25-20, Williamsville 25-13, 22-25, 15-8.
Mahomet-Seymour defeated Pleasant Plains 23-25, 25-23, 15-13 in Semi-Final Play.
Kayin Garner and Savannah Matthews were named to the All-Tournament team.
