Benedict nears triple-double in win, Bulldog wrestling over Maroons

Noah Benedict was two assists shy of a triple-double Tuesday night as the Mahomet-Seymour boys’ basketball team recovered from a first-quarter deficit to defeat visiting Normal University High School, 56-45.
Benedict registered 11 points, 11 rebounds and eight assists.
Teammate Cory Noe scored a game-high 21 points. Noe, who hit two three-point shots, grabbed eight rebounds.
The other Bulldog in double figures was Grant Coleman, with 10 points.
After one quarter, M-S trailed 11-10. By halftime the Bulldogs held a 25-23 lead, which they expanded by outscoring the Pioneers 31-22 after intermission.
The non-conference victory raises the team’s season record to 7-2.

The Bulldogs wrestled at Clinton Tuesday night, losing to the Maroons 42-24. The following wrestlers won their match.
