Beacham and Petro win two events in meet against Monticello

Junior Meah Beacham and sophomore Kendyl Petro were double winners in individual events on Monday (April 10) for the Mahomet-Seymour girls’ track and field team in its lone home meet of the season, against Monticello.
Beacham was victorious in the 100-meter dash and also in the triple jump.
Petro was dominant in the shot put and the discus.
Overall, M-S athletes won 10 of 13 individual events which were contested and went 1-2 in five events.
In the 100-meter dash, Holly Hawes followed Beacham to the finish line. Hawes was the winner of the 200 meters. In the triple jump, Beacham beat Bulldog Abi Weiss.
Petro led a 1-2 M-S finish in the discus. Teammate Selah Campion was the runner-up.
The other top-two sweeps for M-S were in the 400 meters (Madalyn Marx beating Lauren Burr), the 3,200 meters (Ava Boyd beating Chloe Bundren) and in the pole vault (Kelsie Fuoss beating Weiss).
Other Bulldog meet champions in individual events were Kara Carney (300-meter hurdles), Grace Rodebaugh (high jump) and Burr (long jump). Jinan Abdo placed second in the 1,600 meters.
M-S will return to action on Friday (April 14) in the Bloomington Invitational.
