Balanced hitting puts Bulldogs over Taylorville

It was a hitter’s paradise on Saturday (April 23) when the Mahomet-Seymour softball team swept a doubleheader from Taylorville.
In the two games, the Bulldogs accumulated 27 runs and 26 hits,12 of which landed for extra bases.
M-S topped Taylorville 10-2 and 17-0.
Karley Yergler led the Bulldogs’ offensive assault. She was 5-for-7 overall with two doubles, one triple and two home runs. She totaled seven RBI for the day.
Kenadi Granadino, Brooke Howard and Chloe Truax all recorded three hits for the day, including one double each.
Other teammates with a two-hit game were Maddie Cortez, Kayla McKinney and Jenna Wade. Cortez socked a double and a home run in the second game.
Yergler pitched three innings in each game, allowing just one hit and one walk in her six total innings. She registered 12 strikeouts.
Abbey Akers pitched four innings in the opener and logged the pitching win. She struck out four and walked no one.
M-S (14-2) has won 10 of its last 11 games. The Bulldogs return to action on Tuesday (April 26) at home against Normal Community.
