Ava Henderson Shines as Mahomet-Seymour Softball Splits Doubleheader Against Taylorville

Ava Henderson pitched a six-hitter and didn’t allow an earned run on Wednesday as the Mahomet-Seymour softball team topped visiting Taylorville, 6-1, in the first game of a doubleheader.
Taylorville salvaged a split with an 8-6 triumph in Game 2.
Bulldogs with hits in both games were Kalista Granadino, Madeleine Cortez, Madelyn Logsdon, Rio Casillas and Madison Taylor.
Logsdon and Casillas produced two hits in the opener. Cortez scored two runs and drove in two runs in the first game.
In the second game, Granadino, Logsdon, Brooke Hartman and Taylor all finished with two hits.
Logsdon has a 17-game hitting streak and during that time is batting .522 (24-for-46).
On Monday (May 13), Brooklyn Dyer and Logsdon both recorded two hits, but M-S dropped a 12-1 decision at home to Danville.
Cortez collected the Bulldogs’ other hit.
Logsdon swatted two doubles. Dyer scored the lone M-S run in the bottom of the fourth inning.
Henderson registered two strikeouts in five innings.
Sixth-seeded Mahomet-Seymour (8-22) returns to action in a Class 3A regional tournament semifinal game at home on Wednesday (May 22) against third-seeded Champaign Central. When the schools played in the regular season, Central posted a 7-6 win.
