Augustus Gaudio leads M-S at Richard Spring Invitational

Augustus Gaudio was the top finisher for the Mahomet-Seymour boys’ cross-country team on Saturday (Sept. 16) in the 62-school Richard Spring Invitational at Detweiller Park, in Peoria.
Gaudio ran the 3-mile course in 15 minutes, 34.90 seconds and ended 91st in a field with 570 finishers.
As a team, the Bulldogs placed 40th with a team composite of 1,090 points. Meet champion Arlington Heights Hersey had a cumulative score of 127.
Other M-S competitors in the varsity division of the meet were Henry McMurry (165th in 16:01.50), Lukas Nykaza (208th in 16:19.30), Zach Wilcoski (335th in 17:04.50), Grant Smysor (387th in 17:26.50), Kaleb Kasper (436th in 17:52.20) and Jack VanHoorn (492nd in 18:31.70).
The Bulldogs had two entries in the freshmen-sophomore race.
Jackson Koontz was 343rd in 20:59.90 and teammate Matthew Gray was 348th in 21:26.90.
M-S returns to action on Saturday (Sept. 23) in the East Peoria Invitational at Illinois Central College.
