Atteberry and Bushue Score Historic Wins for Mahomet-Seymour at IHSA Class 1A Tennis Tournament

Mahomet-Seymour tennis players Jacob Atteberry and Caleb Bushue won two matches on Thursday (May 23) at the IHSA boys’ Class 1A state tennis tournament in Suburban Chicago.

They are the first M-S players to earn wins at the boys’ state tennis meet.

Atteberry, a senior, and Bushue, a junior, made their state debut with a 7-5, 7-6 (4) triumph over a duo from Greenville.

After a 6-3, 6-0 loss to Dunlap, the Bulldogs registered a 6-3,1-6, 10-6 win against players from Hinsdale South.

They were subsequently eliminated in the third round of the consolation bracket with a 6-3, 6-2 loss to Teutopolis.

They finish the season with an overall 9-11 record.

M-S scored three points and finished in a tie for 35th at state. In all, 66 schools scored points at state.
