Update: Byron has qualified for IHSA Class 2A state finals with a 157-foot, 9 inch throw.

Mahomet-Seymour’s Robert Byron is headed to the Class 2A IHSA discus preliminaries at Eastern Illinois University on May 27 after throwing 166 feet, 5 inches in the Class 2 A Unity Sectional.

Previously, the 6-foot-1, 215-pound junior’s personal best was a throw of 157 feet, five inches on April 26, but Byron’s Sectional showing landed his name at seventh on the all-time MS leader’s list.
