Athlete of the Week: CJ Shoaf
Mahomet-Seymour’s CJ Shoaf placed first in the IHSA Class 2A high jump last weekend.
At 6’4″, Shoaf captured the state championship with a leap of 6 feet, 1 ¼ inches. He holds the Mahomet-Seymour High School record with clearing 7 feet, ¼ inches earlier this season.
At the state meet, the University of Illinois recruit also finished second in the 110-meter high hurdles, capturing a personal record by crossing the finish line at 14.066 seconds.
Shoaf became the first Mahomet-Seymour track and field athlete to place in three state events when he placed third in the 300-m hurdles, finishing at 38.79 seconds.
