Athlete of the Week: Ava Boyd

Mahomet-Seymour sophomore Ava Boyd won the Class 2A Regional title Saturday.

The photo finish put Boyd right in front of fellow sophomore Brooklynn Sweikar from Centennial. The girls ran the 3-mile course at Olney Central College in 19 minutes, 13.78 seconds.

Earlier this season, Boyd placed third at the Apollo Conference meet and 12th at the Runnin’ Red Invitational in Metamora.

At the Wheaton North Classic, Boyd was 16th in the flight for No. 1 runners and 9th at the Richard Spring Invitational.
