Aron Varga wins two in Bloomington

Mahomet-Seymour junior Aron Varga was a double winner in individual events on Saturday (Dec. 10) as the Bulldogs split two swimming dual meets at Bloomington.
M-S topped Danville, 87-44, and was edged by the host Purple Raiders, 75-71.
Varga was triumphant in the 100-yard butterfly (58.26 seconds) and the 100-yard breaststroke (1 minute, 4.75 seconds).
He was also a part of the winning 200-yard medley relay. He teamed up with Aaron Smith, Emmett Kearns and Jeremiah Pryor for a time of 1:56.39.
Kearns captured the other M-S win at Bloomington, prevailing in the 200-yard individual medley (2:11.22).
The Bulldogs secured a runner-up finish in the 400-yard freestyle relay. The foursome consisted of Kearns, Matthew Kirby, Smith and Varga. Their combined time was 4:05.30.
M-S was short-handed due to illness.
The Bulldogs (3-1) will return to action on Tuesday (Dec. 13) at Champaign Centennial in a meet against Central that will also include Danville.
