If the mid-winter weather has you longing for a good garage sale, you don’t have to wait around until spring. All God’s Children Preschool’s annual garage sale is this Saturday, January 26, 8 a.m.-1 p.m.
The garage sale is the preschool’s only fundraiser.
For about 15 years, money from the sale has gone toward purchasing supplies, equipment and, most importantly, providing student scholarships when needed.
In the past, the garage sale has raised anywhere from $1,000-$2,000 a year. In addition to supplies like markers, books and toys, funds go toward purchasing pieces the children use and enjoy, such as a sand table, and small playground equipment for the outdoor courtyard play area.
Additionally, money from the garage sale is used to provide scholarships should a family not be able to afford the tuition to send their child to preschool.
Items for the sale are donated by preschool families, members of the Lutheran Church of Mahomet, and community members.
The All God’s Children Garage sale usually includes baby items, clothes for children and adults, toys and housewares make up the majority of items for sale. Electronics and furniture are not accepted as donations unless it is a child’s electronic or small children’s furniture.
Items that do not sell at Saturday’s event will be boxed up and donated to Salt & Light.
All God’s Children was founded more than 30 years ago. Currently, it is home to a two day a week half day program for three-year-olds, and a three day a week half day program for pre-Kindergarten students.
The enrollment process for the 2019-20 school year will begin February 1, with church members and prior AGC families given admission priority. The preschool is open to community members of all faiths.
