The Mahomet-Seymour School District Board of Education has approved a new employment contract for Kristopher Kahler as Chief School Business Official (CSBO), setting his annual salary at $164,200 for a two-year term beginning October 1, 2025.
The contract, signed on August 18, is a significant salary increase in the district’s business office leadership position. The district’s former CBO, Heather Smith, earned $131,000 annually in the role. Kahler’s new compensation of $164,200 marks a 25.3% increase over his predecessor’s salary.
Kahler holds an Ed.D. in Teaching and Learning from Illinois State University, a Master’s Degree in Educational Leadership and Administration from Northern Illinois University, and a Bachelor’s Degree in Education from Knox College.
Kahler began serving as Director of Business Services at Rochester CUSD #3A in July 2023, managing the district’s budget, accounting, and everyday financial operations. Prior to that role, he served as Superintendent at Maroa-Forsyth CUSD 2 from July 2021 to June 2023, earning $141,051 in fiscal year 2023 before transitioning to Rochester at a salary of $130,000.
During his tenure as Maroa-Forsyth superintendent, Kahler led key accomplishments, including overseeing the construction of the Maroa-Forsyth Middle School. He also has experience as a principal at both elementary and middle school levels.
Contract Terms and Benefits
The two-year contract extends through June 30, 2027, with the work year consisting of twelve months annually, including sick leave, personal leave, and vacation days, but excluding holidays. The contract includes comprehensive benefits:
