The Mahomet Public Library is gearing up for a summer of adventure, learning, and community fun as it kicks off its annual Summer Reading Programs on May 21, coinciding with the last day of school. Registration opens that day, and participants can log their reading minutes through August 1, the final day to record progress.
This year’s program adopts the national iREAD 2025 theme, “Level Up! at Your Library,” inviting readers of all ages to engage with books and activities inspired by puzzles and games.
All-Ages Participation and Prizes
The Summer Reading Program is open to children, teens, and adults, each with tailored incentives:
- Kids (Birth–Fifth Grade):

Community-Wide Goals and Rewards
This year, the library is encouraging collective achievement with community prizes unlocked as total minutes read reach key milestones. Using the “Reader Zone” app or website, everyone can contribute to the community tally. Prizes include:

- 75,000 minutes: Botley 2.0 Coding Robot
- 150,000 minutes: Six new Wonderbooks

The library’s summer calendar is packed with additional activities, including Family Fun Fridays, outdoor crafts, special performances like magic shows, and themed weekend events such as a book character scavenger hunt and a Pokémon party. Teens can look forward to new offerings like a Dungeons & Dragons event and a Uno tournament, while adults can participate in yoga, mocktail lessons, book clubs, and crafting sessions.
