As of Jan. 17, 2025, the proposal to build a Travel Center of America facility on the west side of South Prairieview Road (Case CU2024-03) is no longer moving forward. The petitioner has officially withdrawn their conditional-use application, effectively halting progress on the project.

This decision means that the proposed development, which included plans for an 84-car parking lot, 113 semi-truck parking spaces, gas pumps, and a 14,800-square-foot retail and restaurant building, will not be considered by the Mahomet Board of Trustees.

The withdrawal follows significant opposition from community members and a divided recommendation from the Plan and Zoning Commission in November 2024. Residents voiced concerns about the project’s proximity to neighborhoods and potential impacts on traffic, air quality, noise, and safety.
