Gaudio and McMurry Lead M-S to Second Place Finish at Metamora Cross-Country Invitational, Both Finish in Top 5

Two Mahomet-Seymour runners placed among the top 10 on Saturday (Oct. 12) in the 23-school Metamora Gene Jones Runnin’ Red Boys’ Cross-Country Invitational.

Junior Auggie Gaudio was third in a field of 290 competitors with a time of 14:58.4.

Another junior, teammate Henry McMurry placed fifth in 15:03.7.

No season-best or personal-best times were recorded because the course measured 2.94 miles and not 3.0 miles.

Senior Zach Wilcoski also earned a medal, which went to the top 30 runners. He was 28th in 15:47.3.

Other Bulldogs among the top 100 were Adam Smigielski (44th in 16:13.7), Lukas Nykaza (50th in 16:20.6), Kaleb Kasper (76th in 16:58.3), Tayten Gergen (77th in 16:59.7), Liam Burwell (83rd in 17:03.1), Carter Alderks (91st in 17:07.8) and Kiptyn Fan (96th in 17:11.2).

Other Bulldog participants were Corban McMinn (17:19.0), Henry Welch (17:52.3), Jack VanHoorn (17:56.8), Ben Schultz (18:03.1), Gavin Fan (18:03.1), Jackson Koontz (18:58.7), Garen Johnson-Farkhoyan (19:52.2), Bernardo Allan Pinto (20:05.4), Dominic Burns (20:14.0) and Matthew Gray (20:44.7).

The meet champion was Morton (92 points), followed by M-S (126 points) and Normal University High (127 points).

M-S returns to action on Tuesday (Oct. 15) at Mount Zion in the Apollo Conference Meet.
