Emily Anand Leads Mahomet-Seymour Girls’ Cross-Country with Top-100 Finish at Peoria Notre Dame Invitational, Team Places 27th

Emily Anand was the lone Mahomet-Seymour runner to finish among the top 100 on Saturday (Sept. 21) in the varsity division of the 479-runner Peoria Notre Dame Richard Spring girls’ cross-country invitational.

Anand placed 96th with a 3-mile time of 19 minutes, 5.88 seconds.

Trailing her were teammates Taylor Mills (110th in 19:19.79), Cecily Smith (145th in 19:47.57), Chloe Bundren (202nd in 20:24.59), Kennedy Ashby (272nd in 21:05.87), Morgan Waisath (284th in 21:11.02), Finley Smith (295th in 21:18.73), Jinan Abdo (312th in 21:26.88), Ava Jansen (361st in 22:09.34) and Emma Frazier (405th in 23:07.42).

Registering their best times of the season were Bundren, Abdo and Jansen.

The varsity division team titlist was York (102 points), followed by Hilliard Davidson (104 points). The collective score for M-S (which placed 27th) was 744 points. A total of 57 schools fielded full teams.

In the open race – for any runner not in the varsity event – three Bulldog entries hit their season-best times: Emily Ramirez (183rd in 22:28.21), Emmaline Culp (200th in 22:43.29) and Blaire Gabel (354th in 25:06.17).

M-S ended 30th among the 40 schools with full teams. The Bulldogs’ cumulative score was 860 points.

St. Ignatius won meet honors with 63 points, followed by Prospect (84).

Other M-S placers were Caroline Allen (228th in 23:13.27), Selma Tilton (339th in 24:50.45), Ruby Anderson (398th in 25:48.35), Grace Bednar (430th in 26:35.41) and Camryn Nelson (435th in 26:44.90).

M-S will return to action on Saturday (Sept. 28) in the Peoria Invitational at Illinois Central College, in East Peoria.
