Hartman and White Power Mahomet-Seymour to 14-6 Softball Victory Over Gibson City-Melvin-Sibley

Brooke Hartman knocked in a season-high four runs and Madisyn White scored a season-high three runs on Thursday (May 9) as the Mahomet-Seymour softball team captured a 14-6 non-conference win at Gibson City-Melvin-Sibley. Hartman matched her season’s high by scoring three runs.

Rio Casillas pounded three hits while teammates Madeleine Cortez, Hartman and Ava Henderson contributed two hits each.

Brooklyn Dyer, Madelyn Logsdon and Madison Taylor finished with one hit apiece.

Casillas and Dyer delivered two RBI each. Presley Cox, Kalista Granadino and Logsdon ended with one RBI.

Casillas, Cortez and Granadino all tallied two runs. Peyton Shelmadine and Taylor both scored a run.

On Saturday (May 11), the Bulldogs lost both games of a twin bill at Mount Zion, 10-0 and 11-4.

Dyer and Logsdon were the only Bulldogs with hits in both games. Casillas also had a hit in the opener and Shelmadine stole a base.

In Game 2, Cortez led the way with a 2-for-4 performance. Besides Dyer and Logsdon, other Bulldog hits were off the bats of Cox, Granadino, Hartman, Henderson and Katherine Severns.

Driving in runs were Dyer, Granadino, Henderson and Severns.

M-S (7-20) returns to action on Monday (May 13) at home against Danville.
