Randolph Dominates as Mahomet-Seymour Bulldozes Apollo Conference Rivals in Doubleheader Triumph

Finn Randolph continued his mastery over baseball teams in the Apollo Conference on Friday (April 19) at home.

Randolph fired a one-hit shutout against Taylorville as the Bulldogs won the first game of a doubleheader, 15-0.

M-S has played three Apollo foes to date. Randolph is 3-0 against league opponents and has allowed one earned run and one walk in conference play. He struck out three Taylorville hitters and overall has fanned 16 hitters in conference action.

Noah Butler, Randolph and Cade Starrick all pounded two hits in the opener. Butler and Randolph both delivered three RBI. Gavin Bailey, Camden Heinold and Raymond Long all knocked in two runs.

Tyson Finch scored three runs. Crossing home plate twice apiece were Butler, Heinold, Matthew Orr, Starrick and Miles Woolsey. Nolan Johnson and Long both tallied one run.

In the second game, the Bulldogs upended Taylorville, 15-5.

Bailey hammered two home runs, raising his team-leading total to five. Bailey drove in five runs. Starrick had three RBI and Finch and Heinold each finished with two RBI.

Leadoff batter Heinold laced three hits. Besides Bailey, Butler and Starrick notched two hits.

Randolph scored four runs. Crossing home plate twice each were Bailey, Heinold, Long and Starrick.

Alec Bergman pitched four innings and earned the win. He permitted three hits and four walks while striking out a season-high six hitters.

Starrick threw the final two innings and fanned three hitters.

On Thursday (April 18), Orr had three hits, Woolsey drove in three runs and Starrick scored three runs to spark the Mahomet-Seymour baseball team to a 10-3 win at home over St. Thomas More.

Bailey drilled two hits as did teammates Cole Henderson, Starrick and Woolsey. Henderson and Starrick produced two RBI apiece.

Long and Orr both scored two runs.

Woolsey pitched the first four innings and picked up the win. He allowed four hits and walked no one. He had five strikeouts.

Reliever Johnson struck out three hitters in two innings of work before Kody Ackman closed out the win with one strikeout in his one-inning stint.

M-S (15-5) returns to action on Monday (April 22) at Normal University High.
