Gaudio places third at East Peoria Invitiational

Sophomore Augustus Gaudio placed third for Mahomet-Seymour on Saturday (Sept. 23) in the 185-runner East Peoria boys’ cross-country invitational at Illinois Central College.

Gaudio’s 3-mile time was 16 minutes, 17.30 seconds.

In the team chase, M-S placed fifth in the 15-school invitational with 121 points. Meet champion Morton had 80 points and was followed by Washington with 82.

Other Bulldogs who participated in the varsity race were Henry McMurry (21st in 17:03.20), Lukas Carey (31st in 17:30.80), Lukas Nykaza (35th in 17:38.90), Zach Wilcoski (38th in 17:42.40), Kaleb Kasper (62nd in 18:39.50), Grant Smysor (64th in 18:48.80) and Gavin Fan (104th in 20:05.80).

In the 135-runner freshmen-sophomore race, the Bulldogs had one medalist.

Sophomore Corban McMinn ran eighth in 18:25.50.

The team’s other competitors were Jack Van Hoorn (34th in 19:35.40), Henry Carpenter (47th in 20:24.80), Blake Patrick (57th in 20:51.60), Ben Schultz (73rd in 21:37.50), Jackson Koontz  (99th in 21:37.50) and Matthew Gray (120th in 24:55.70.

M-S placed seventh in the freshmen-sophomore division with 197 points. Meet champion Morton had 36 points.

M-S will return to action on Saturday (Oct. 7) in the Gene Jones Runnin’ Red Invitational at Black Patridge Park, in Metamora.
