MSJHS Softball loses final two regular season games

Mahomet-Seymour’s junior high softball team ended the regular season with two losses in the final week, but reached double figures in runs scored for the fifth time in 12 games.
The Bulldogs lost their home finale, 18-2, on Wednesday (Aug. 30) to Normal Kingsley and then dropped a 21-11 decision on Thursday (Aug 31) at Urbana.
Joella Snodsmith and Madisyn Morgan scored the runs against Kingsley. Ellie Ribbe produced the team’s lone RBI.
Lauren Uebelhoer paced the offense with two hits.
Against Urbana, the first two players in the M-S batting order, Snodsmith and Pfeifer Manuel, combined for five hits, five RBI, six stolen bases and three runs scored.
Snodsmith was 3-for-3 and swiped three bases. Manuel was 2-for-4 and drove in three runs.
Hadley Carolan and Kylah Rice both tallied two runs. Carolan was 2-for-2 at the plate with a double. Morgan also knocked a double and Manuel belted a triple. Rice swiped two bases.
M-S finished the regular season with a 1-11 record. The Bulldogs will host a Class 3A IESA Regional and open against fourth-seeded Rantoul Eater on Thursday (Sept. 7). M-S is the No. 5 seed.
